Although Ben and Firedrake easily make friends, Sorrel grows increasingly distrustful and attempts at every chance to get rid of the orphan.
But the unlikely trio must learn to draw together because Nettlebrand is chasing them, an ancient, dragon-eating creature created by an alchemist to track down and kill any dragon on Earth.
