A man, a robot, and a dog form an odd family in “Finch,” a compelling and touching tale about one man’s journey to ensure that his beloved canine companion is cared for when he passes away. Finch, a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event that has left the Earth in ruins, is played by Tom Hanks.
Finch, on the other hand, has created his own universe, which he inhabits with his dog, Goodyear, who has been living in an underground bunker for a decade. When he can no longer watch over Goodyear, he builds a robot, played by Caleb Landry Jones. Finch tries to teach his creation, Jeff, the joy and wonder of what it is to be alive as the three embark on a perilous adventure through the harsh American West.
As difficult as it is for Finch to persuade Jeff and Goodyear to get along as it is for him to manage the hazards of the new world, their road trip is packed with both problems and fun.
