Toy Story 4 2019 DVD Cover – Synopsis
R.C. is washed down a storm drain in a flashback to nine years ago (between the events of the previous two films). When Woody and the other toys are busy rescuing the toys, a mystery man purchases Bo Peep; amid Woody’s attempts to discourage the auction, Bo tells him that being taken away is part of being a doll.
Woody and the other toys are happy in their new home two years after Andy donated his toys to Bonnie. Woody, who Bonnie has been neglecting, sneaks into Bonnie’s bag, worried that she will be disappointed at her kindergarten induction, and his worries come to light when Bonnie becomes shy around her new classmates. During arts and crafts, Woody sneakily places a spork and other trash can objects on Bonnie’s table, which she transforms into a handmade toy-spork she calls “Forky.” To Woody’s surprise, Forky comes to life after Bonnie puts him in her backpack.
Forky has an existential dilemma when Woody exposes him to the rest of Bonnie’s toys, thinking that he was created to be garbage rather than a doll, and the other toys keep him from throwing himself away. Forky, still thinking himself to be garbage, leaps out the window on a road trip with Bonnie’s family and her dolls, causing Woody to chase him off. Woody persuades Forky to enjoy the benefits of being a doll, and the two set out for the RV park where Bonnie and her parents will be staying.
When Woody arrives in town, he notices Bo’s lamp in an antique store. Within, he and Forky come across a doll called Gabby Gabby and her sycophant puppets, the Bensons, while looking for Bo. Gabby Gabby offers to drive them to Bo, but then discovers her real motive: she wants Woody’s voice box because hers is missing and no child can pay for it.
Woody and Forky attempt to flee the shop when Bonnie and her parents arrive, but Forky is caught by Gabby Gabby. Bonnie’s RV has left without Woody by the time he escapes the store, and he discovers he has left Forky behind. Woody reunites with Bo, who has turned into a nomad explorer who assists abandoned toys in reuniting with their owners. They take a path through a local carnival with Bo’s companion, a miniature cop called Giggles McDimples, to save Forky from the antique shop.
Meanwhile, Buzz goes off on his own in search of Woody, relying on the button-induced phrases from his own voice box for direction. Buzz ends up as a prize in a carnival booth and escapes with Ducky and Bunny, plush dolls. Buzz locates Woody and Bo, who enlist the aid of Ducky and Bunny, pledging that they will become Bonnie’s toys, as well as Bo’s old pal from the antique shop, Duke Caboom, a Canadian stuntman doll, to save Forky.
Toy Story 4 – Characters
The toys’ attempt to save Forky at the antique shop fails. Woody, the one toy currently trying to rescue Forky, has a quarrel with the other toys and insults Bo inadvertently. Woody offers up his voice box to Gabby Gabby in exchange for Forky as Bo, Duke, Giggles, Ducky, and Bunny head to the carnival.
Toy Story 4 Conclusion
Gabby Gabby is desperate to be adopted by Margaret’s granddaughter, Harmony, but she is repulsed by Gabby Gabby’s new voice and refuses her. Buzz arrives at Bonnie’s RV and calls out for Bonnie’s purse, which she has abandoned at the antique shop. Bo and her crew return after a change of heart, and Woody consoles Gabby Gabby.
Bonnie and her parents are followed by the toys until she returns for her backpack. Buzz and Forky make it back to Bonnie, who is overjoyed to see Forky again, thanks to Duke’s motorcycle expertise. Gabby Gabby, following Woody’s suggestion, sees a little girl crying and comforts her, and is then adopted. Woody is reluctant to return with Bonnie after saying goodbye to Bo. Woody agrees to stay with Bo and help missing toys locate their owners after some support from Buzz. Buzz and the gang say their goodbyes to Woody and Bo, and the two parties part ways.
Since Woody and Bo ride with the carnival for a year, Bonnie has reached first grade in the mid-credits scenes. Bonnie made Knifey, a carved plastic knife, which Jessie takes along. Forky, who is instantly smitten, agrees to accompany her on her journey through life as a doll rather than garbage. He’s stumped when she asks, “Why am I alive?” as her first question.
